Day 2 of Lockdown - Pandemic or Opportunity?

Only Day 2 of the Bay Area’s COVID-19 lockdown and cabin fever was mentioned by nearly everyone I spoke to. Trying to stay positive; when life gives you COVID-19, it’s time to make lemonade! 🍋

So much free time!♪

  • I don’t remember the last time when the Bay Area traffic was so good.

  • Bay Area commuters are saving an average of two hours a day in commute.

things you’ve always wanted to do that you never seem to have time for 🎵

  • Learn a language

  • Exercise - The rain has been keeping me in, but the days are getting longer and the sky’s drier. A friend of mine is motivating himself by putting in a short three minute exercise (think - planks) every hour.

  • Cook a new recipe - Can even be done as a “group” activity. See below!

  • Get enough alone time to clear your mind

  • Spend more time with family - Lucky me since I’m isolated with two of my favorite beings!

  • Write that blog! 👀

  • Build something

“Group” Activities in Isolation 🎶

  • Host a Cooking Class - Instead of a potluck dinner party, gather a few of your friends together and cook together over google hangout. Variations include “bringing” something to the dinner party that you cooked earlier to share with others, “hosting” a signature cocktail, or simply eating together while on video chat.

  • Paint Nite - We did a budget paint nite once during a work happy hour by watching Bob Ross. Since watching a video while being on another video call may be tricky, consider using a paint-by-numbers kit instead. Add some savory snacks & cold drinks = instant party!

  • Spa Day - Some girlfriends and I had been planning a much needed spa day for months. Cue COVID-19 and boom! The spa day became a pipe dream. Cue Amazon to the rescue. A few sheet masks and a great drink recipe later and we can still have our spa day, only virtually.

  • Movie Night - Apparently Netflix has a “Party” feature that lets you watch with friends.

Ideas? What are you doing to stay busy?
