Day 13 of Lockdown - Host a Virtual Spa

A few months ago, I got together with a few friends at a spa as a way to rejuvenate in the winter. We enjoyed it so much we decided to make it a quarterly tradition, with the next one slated for late March. What horrible timing! It’s hard to believe that it’s been less than two weeks since the Bay Area implemented our version of “house arrest” asking residents to stay in to keep themselves isolated as much as possible.

Call me stubborn, but I’ve been looking forward to it so much, I couldn’t let the idea go, even in the middle of a pandemic. Relaxing promotes immune system. Better immune system = less likely to get sick. So come on, take a moment from the mad scramble of the toilet paper wars and host yourself a virtual spa!

What makes a spa relaxing? There are quite a few theories out there on what it takes to create the perfect spa ambiance to help you relax.

Using an IG template @leahferezan created as a starting point, I created a similar one to help us to create the perfect virtual spa. [ left | my version ]

What we tried - AND HOW TO DO IT

Cheer-Up, Skin!

BEFORE the pandemic, I picked these up in person at my local CVS. I was thrilled when I first found out CVS was carrying Korean Sheet Masks, and often had coupons making them available at a very reasonable prices!

POST pandemic, I turned to Amazon to send these to my gals who were scattered throughout the bay. Not only were they well-priced, but I was able to ship them directly to their homes so we could continue to #stayhomestaysafe.

BESIDES the masks, a friend shared links for spa water that was easy for everyone to make with whatever fruit they had on hand. When the time was ready, we readied our water, lit our candles and joined a video call with some soothing music in the background to start our virtual spa!

Takeaways💡

If you are shipping something to your friends, make sure you have enough time to get it to them since shipping times have been extended. If you don’t have enough time, or worry about finding something everyone will like, you can ask each person to bring what they would like to use. For reoccurring spa outings with the same group, you can also rotate this duty so no one person is on the hook.
