Retail Wars - Target knows best

On the other side of the spectrum from lux retailer Nordstorm, Target has proven itself not only on trend, but continually relevant. In addition to the brand ambassadors like stylist extraordinaire Emily Henderson, Target has a constant influx of "fast fashion" coming through collaborations with designers ranging from Jason Wu and Orly Kiely.  The items are often highly anticipated, with both clothing and home goods flying off the shelves, creating the kind of buzz that can only be produced from organic interest.

The latest in in the batch to join the band wagon of operational efficiency, Target has been creating house brands faster than we can keep track.  Here's a few that caught our eye -

  • Project 62

  • Made by Design

  • Who What Where

Nor have they stopped their collaborations with Hearth and Hand with Magnolia launching this year, as Joanna and Chip Gaines transition into their own home design empire post retirement from Fixer Upper.

Apparently Target believes in their house brands so much they're willing to provide a 1 year return for any of their in house items.

Coincidence? Maybe not, as Target’s EVP and CMO joined from Nordstorm in 2016 so big bets may be in their DNA.
